I finally decided to watch Casanova, the mini-series with David Tennant. (Only three episodes, so really mini.) For some random reason I thought it would be a historical tragedy with long complicated dialogues. Well. I was completely wrong.
I just finished the second episode and I'm full of glee. I want to own it on DVD and watch it on loop until I get tired of it. And it's not just because its got David Tennant in tights.
It is genuinely funny and the love story is fascinating. I love how he lies his way trough everything. And I love Henriette. She's pretty ok?
At first they where some visual choices that I found weird, or out of date, but after the second episode, I think they just fit the universe and the style the created for the show. The only thing bothering me at this point, and I don't think they could really change that(same actor, and I believe same creator?) , is that sometimes I see too much of the Doctor in David Tennant's interpretation. The way he says certain words or some facial expression, or some sentences.
But that's my only critic for now.
Thanks
cabayuki for finding it for me! :-)

on 2009-01-20 11:19 pm (UTC)Oh, and I figured out later that when the tenth Doctor is picking out his new clothes at the end of "The Christmas Invasion," one of the outfits he looks at is a costume from "Casanova."

And I love when they do small references like that. It makes me smile. ;)
